As I previously wrote, I had began to read The DaVinci Code. Well, I finally finished the book! It was enjoyable enough. Dan Brown writes in an entertaining style that is very easy to read. It was also a book that hooked you in, reading great slabs over a few days. The ending however was a little weak, but this is a small criticism. I did also have to keep reminding myself that the book was a work of fiction and not a history text. Yes, it was a fun read… but no classic. I’m reaching for my Dostoevsky as we speak…
A final thought. Am I now motivated to see the movie? Hell no!
The ending was crap, but I did warn you… Now on to Angels and Demons! Or will it be Harry Potter?? You’ve never had so much fun reading trashy fiction have you Mr Intellectual “I shun mainstream society just ’cause!” ; )
Daydreamer, try to resist the urge to read more of Dan Brown. There are so many books in the world and only a few are written by him, Wilbur Smith, Jeffrey Archer and the rest, which makes them easier to avoid.
Just remember, part of his (Brown’s) defence in the plagiarism case against him regarding “Holy Blood, Holy Grail” was that he found it too hard to read, and therefore couldn’t have plagiarised it.
I prefer my authors literate, as I’m sure you do to.
