Self Explanitory ReallyThose who know me well will know that one of my favourite topics to rant about is driver etiquette, or more precisely, the lack of it. More times than I care to admit, I have arrived at Doppio bitching and moaning about the fuckwits and deadbeats that litter Victorian roads, especially it seems, on the Princes Freeway between Melbourne and Geelong. Highest on the list is people who fail to keep left, followed by those who drive under the speed limit in the right hand lane. And hookturns people, they aren’t that fucking hard. If you don’t know what you are doing, then you shouldn’t be on the road. But this isn’t about simple courtesy to other road users.

“On multi-lane roads with a speed limit over 80kph, you must [italics theirs] keep out of the right lane unless: overtaking, turning right, making a U-turn, avoiding an obstruction or [if] traffic is congested. You must also keep out of the right lane where a keep left when overtaking sign applies”.

Pretty straightforward you would think. Huh! If you don’t wish to do the speed limit, that’s fine. Just stay out of the way of those of us that do. A complete copy of Victoria’s road rules can be found here as a .pdf file. Read it, learn the rules. You’ll see that I’m not being unreasonable, you’re breaking the fucking law! But remember kids, apparently road rage is illegal (p 51).

Does all of this mark the end of civilisation. No… but you can sure as hell see it from there!
