Opening Day Is Here At Last!

The wait is finally over! Spring training has come to an end, and the real games begin. The MLB season kicks off today with World Champion Chicago White Sox hosting the Cleveland Indians. Everybody starts at 0-0, and for at least for a few weeks has a realistic chance of playing in October… well everybody except the Devil Rays and the Royals.

Coco CrispExpectation within the Red Sox Nation is high. There has been a massive overhaul to the team over the winter that has resulted in a couple of high profile departures. However, the club has worked hard to ensure more than adequate replacements were found. Newcomers for 2006 include pitcher Josh Beckett and outfielder Coco Crisp. Theo Epstein is back on board as GM, Manny is staying, Schilling, Nixon and Foulke are fit again and Big Papi is about to sign a four year contract extension! The competition will be tough… the Yankees as always, as well as a big spending Toronto. That said, the Red Sox have the team to go all the way in 2006! The season begins on the road in Texas, with the Red Sox home opener on April 11 at Fenway.

LET’S GO REDSOX!
